The General Store began in 1964 and quickly grew into a southern California staple for gifts that benefits practically everyone. Its unique blend of gift items fostered a large fan base that continues to this very day.
The family team of Jack, Cherie and their two children, bring a hometown feel from local Huntington Beach residents who has never forgotten their roots.
“They just always seem to know what looks, feels and sells well”, said a long time admirer.
The General Store is and always will be all about the customer. It is after all the reason General Store has prospered since 1964. That attitude has enabled the store to grow with a steady stream of new products, mixed with the favorites to combine a buying experience that promises that “there’s always something to see.”
After more than twenty years at the former Huntington Beach Mall, General Store has moved its legacy and now resides next to Trader Joes at Loehmann’s 5 Points Plaza, also in Huntington Beach, California.
The new location brings the offerings of General Store closer to more of a central Huntington Beach area. Additionally, there’s ample parking and even a larger store to shop. Whether that be for Yankee Candle, Leexe’s Shoes, Jim Shore, Department 56 or a host of others, there will be now more to choose from and more to always come in and see what’s new.
The General Store is part of the community, and figures to play an even larger role since teaming up with Loehmann’s 5 Points, historically a huge community partner itself. Annually, The Huntington Beach Fourth of July fundraising, high school support and other activities bring an important element to the character of what is needed in regional retailing today, and along with the internal services General Store provides, including its own rewards program, birthday club, gift cards, gift wrapping, special orders, layaway, call ahead shopping, and more, reflect the kind of place General Store has evolved towards today…a trusted, reliable source of quality products and quality customer service.
